Die Haleakala Waldorfschule hat 2 Kindergarten-Gruppen und ( bis jetzt) 8 Klassen. Ab Schuljahr 2013/14 sollen die Klassen 9 bis 12 in einem neuen Schulhaus in der Nähe aufgebaut werden. More on Maui's Haleakala Waldorf School can be found under www.WaldorfMaui.com Eine überragende Rolle im Schulleben spielen die Musik und der Gesang. Hier hören wir die Weihnachtslieder von Aleas 4. Klasse beim "Candle Lighting" vor den Weihnachtsferien: Jedes Kind aus jeder Klasse geht langsam in eine Spirale (Adventsgärtlein) hinein und entzündet in der Mitte seine Kerze im (aus Ton) selbst gemachten Kerzenständer. Dann geht es wieder langsam aus der Spirale hinaus und reiht seine Kerze denen der Klassenkameraden an - Zeremonie von Tod und Wiedergeburt. Dazu singt jeweils eine andere Klasse weihnachtliche Lieder. Aleas Klasse sang für die Kinder der 8. Klasse. Auch hawaiianische Kultur und Musik werden an der Schule mit viel Engagement und Empathie vermittelt. So konnte Alea bei einem Musikanten-Treffen kurz vor Ostern auf der Insel Molokai ein Hula-Solo vorführen. (Das hula-Video mit ca. 200mb mussten wir auf Dropbox speichern. Man kann es einfach "öffnen", d.h. zum einmaligen Anhören, oder auch auf dem eigenen Computer speichern, wenn erwünscht. Jedenfalls dauert der Download einige Minuten. Music and singing play an outstanding roll in the Haleakala Waldorf School. Here we hear Alea's 4th grade singing christmas carols at the candle lighting cerenony before the Christmas holidays: Each child from each class walks slowly into a spiral and lights his/her candle (in a self made candle holder) at a burning candle in the Middle. Then she/he walks slowly out again and puts her/his burning candle at the end of the candle row. During this another class sings christmas carols for the kids of this class. Alea's 4th grade sings the carols for the kids of 8th grade. Also the Hawaiian culture and Musik are tought with great engagement and empathy. So Alea was able to do a ula-solo
ula-solo at a musicians' meeting on the Island of Molokai before Easter. (We had to store this Video (with about 200mb) on Dropbox.
